The position is limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year, at-will and non-benefited.
The Parking Enforcement position varies in shifts and days off (including weekend and holiday work as assigned)
Essential functions include, but are not limited to: Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of City parking ordinances; enforces time-limit parking regulations on streets and City-operated facilities; interprets and explains parking rules and regulations; may need to participate in court appearances and or hearings; and performs related work as required.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education, Training, and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; possession of or ability to obtain a 40-hour P.O.S.T. PC832 Module A certification within six months of hire and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
Knowledge of: Proper English usage; basic arithmetic; basic public relations; alpha and numerical order; appropriate safety precautions and procedures; report writing techniques; modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software; proper storage, inventory and safety procedures and simple record keeping methods.
Ability to: Write legibly; read a watch accurately; read and follow maps; speak clearly and distinctly; enforce necessary regulations with firmness and tact; read, understand and apply the California Vehicle Code and municipal codes related to parking control; maintain schedules and carry out assigned duties without close supervision; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work weekends, holidays and evenings as assigned.
