The Land Use Services Department is seeking motivated, detail-oriented candidates for the Building Inspector II position. This classification is part of the Building Inspector series and is designed for individuals interested in developing a career in building inspection and code compliance.
Building Inspector I incumbents receive structured training and work under immediate supervision while acquiring the technical knowledge and field experience necessary for advancement to Building Inspector II.
Candidates must meet ONE (1) of the Certification options AND ONE (1) of the Experience options in order to qualify.

| CERTIFICATION OPTION 1: | Possession of ICC certification (or equivalent) in the California Building Code in one (1) of the following Inspector certificates: Residential Building, Residential Plumbing, Residential Electrical, or Residential Mechanical. Possession of ICC Certification MUST be clearly listed in the Certification portion of the application. |
| CERTIFICATION OPTION 2: | Possession of ICC certification (or equivalent) as a California Commercial Building Inspector. Possession of ICC Certification MUST be clearly listed in the Certification portion of the application. |
| EXPERIENCE OPTIONS | |
| EXPERIENCE OPTION 1: | One (1) year full-time equivalent experience in a public Building and Safety agency as a residential or commercial building inspector where the primary duty is inspecting building, mechanical, plumbing and electrical projects for compliance with nationally recognized model codes and applicable state and federal regulations, and with the authority to issue notices of correction and violation. |
| EXPERIENCE OPTION 2: | Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience complying with public agencies on approved plans in a construction trade or closely related. |

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in CA Building codes, ordinances and regulations.
