Job Description

Under direction of the Area Sergeant, the Maintenance Worker performs janitorial and maintenance related duties, maintains overall cleanliness of the area facility, performs landscape maintenance, and serves as an assistant to the automotive technician on a limited basis.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: mop/wax floors, vacuum/shampoo carpets, empty and clean wast receptacles, wash windows and doors, clean window sills, clean blinds, and clean/dust furniture and equipment. Conduct daily cleaning of restrooms and re-supply all paper products and soap. Clean the break room. Clean the immediate surroundings of the building including the parking area and walkways. Change filters, replace ballasts and fluorescent bulbs, move furniture and supplies, and maintain irrigation equipment. Assist the automotive technician on a limited basis.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Individual should possess great interpersonal skills. Knowledge of automotive terms and parts used in automobiles; Understanding and ability to perform general maintenance and basic repairs to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. Familiarity with methods, materials, chemicals, disinfectants, and equipment used in janitorial work and safety.
