SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) – CAPITAL DISTRICT

The reporting location for this position will be in Old Sacramento, Capital District Maintenance Shop, 111 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
The Senior Maintenance Aide (Seasonal) leads seasonal Maintenance Aides in performing unskilled maintenance work; coordinates and leads the activities of seasonal housekeeping and conservation crews in cleanup and maintenance of State facilities; gives instruction in the safe and proper use of tools and housekeeping supplies; inspects completed work for quality control and conformance to established standards; maintains and operates light vehicles; trains lower-level seasonal employees; and may assist permanent maintenance workers in unskilled maintenance tasks at park facilities.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

The reporting location will be the Altamont Sector Office at 18595 Corral Hollow Rd in Tracy, CA. This position wil work under the direction of the Senior Park & Recreation Specialist (Sector Manager).
Primary duties include, but are not limited to: performing a variety of general clerical type work which requires in-depth knowledge of the workings of the department and district, following directions, learning and applying laws, rules and regulations procedures and policies, meeting and dealing tactfully with the public and co-workers either face-to-face, by phone or via email.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. Typical work hours will be 8 hours per day, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Start time negotiable.

Typical work involves extended telephone conversations and keyboard operation. Must meet deadlines within short time frames. Must be flexible in tasks.
