Job Description

Commercial Vehicle Inspection Specialist (CVIS), personnel perform routine inspections on commercial type vehicles to determine compliance with weight, size, registration, safety and equipment requirements. Operate truck scale, detecting trucks in violation of size and weight laws. Refer violators to an Officer, CHP for enforcement action. Select trucks for inspections and direct them into inspection bays. Research and interpret laws, rules, and regulations to assist drivers in obtaining compliance, answer questions and assist motorists.

Working Conditions

The Facility is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CVIS are assigned to one of three shifts, 4 days per week, and 10 hours per day.
