This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC position, is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) or Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA) and is part of the CA AASF Stockton.

Duties

  • THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-11, is to perform the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing, manned and unmanned. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications

  • General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications
  • skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment
  • AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-11: In addition to journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10, must have at least 18 months of experience performing duties as a dedicated crew chief
  • experience performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers
  • experience coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft
  • experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft
  • Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Aircraft Maintenance Attention to Detail Technical Competence Trouble Shooting

Requirements:

  • CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment

  • Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required
  • Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity

  • AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment

  • PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest
  • Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance
  • May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period
  • Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards
  • Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required
  • Desired Experience (Not Required) - Current CH-47 and/or UH-72 Flight Engineer (FE)/Crew Chief (CE) or currently an official CH-47 and/or UH-72 Technical Inspector (TI)
