This WEAPON SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (INSTRUCTOR) position, is located in an Air National Guard Wing, Operations Group, Special Operations Squadron and is part of the CA 129 RQW.

Duties

• THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the WEAPON SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2183-13, is to perform Weapon Systems Specialist (Instructor) duties, under the organizational title of Instructor Combat Systems Operator (ICSO) and navigator duties May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications

• General Experience: Possess experience, education or training which provides a working knowledge of the navigation systems and navigational instruments of the assigned airframe
• WEAPON SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2183-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level demonstrated by: experience, education or training that required obtaining information on type of mission, weather, and intelligence data, and special instructions
• experience preparing navigation flight plans
• experience that provided a knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems
• Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment
• experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions
• experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course and ability to train, evaluate and certify proficiency and competency of lower graded personnel
• validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe. (ex. 1000 hours total navigation time which includes 200 hours' time in the C-130) plus certification as a qualified Navigator Instructor
• Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability to Instruct Dexterity and Safety Education / Training Program Administration Instructional Program Evaluation Operation and Control

Requirements:

• CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment

• Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required
• Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity

• AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment
• AREA II= Current California National Guard members
• Military Grades: O-2 through O-5 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval
• PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest
• Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance
• May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period
• Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards
• Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
• Must be mission-ready qualified as a Crew Commander in the Counter-Communication System and able to direct an operations crew in providing non-kinetic effects
• Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required
