This HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC position, is located in the Air National Guard, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Vehicle Management Flight. and is part of the CA 146 AW.

Duties

• THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-5803-10, is to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify, and inspect heavy mobile equipment, various support equipment, and special purpose vehicles such as; fuel dispensing trucks, refueling equipment, crash/structural firefighting equipment and pump trucks, forklifts, materiel handling, aircraft cargo loaders, aircraft and equipment tow tractors, large runway snow removal vehicles, aircraft de-icing equipment, sweepers, bulldozers, mobile cranes, road graders, heavy construction and earth moving vehicles, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, trenchers, and tactical/armored protected vehicles. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications

• General Experience: Possess experience, education or training which provides the ability to to make repairs or the ability to assist with repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts
• HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-5803-10: Must have at least 18 months experience or training leading to a thorough knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment
• Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment
• Knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other non-mechanical systems that have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of mechanical systems
• Knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls
• Basic knowledge of electronics, sufficient to identify and replace defective components, such as sensors, diodes, and circuit boards
• Ability to repair or overhaul major components such as diesel, multi-fuel or gasoline engines, turbine engines, automatic and manual transmissions, drive line assemblies, electrical and electronic systems and accessories, fuel injection systems, and emission control systems
• Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
• Teaching Others Vehicle Maintenance

Requirements:

• CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment

• Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity

• AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment
• AREA II= Current California National Guard members
• AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment)
• Military Grades: E-1 through E-6 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized
• PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest
• Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance
• May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period
• Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards
• Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
• Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required
