FACILITY MAINTENANCE WORKER I / INTERN
Current Salary: FMW I: $23.31 - $29.75 per hour
Intern: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

POSITION
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities. The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current temporary/part-time vacancy in our Community Services Department and to create a list for future vacancies.
Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Facilities Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate for this position will have previous facility maintenance experience, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, have good attendance, a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new tasks as requested. The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a desirable quality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A primary function of this position is janitorial services. Will include set up and cleanup of special events. Prepare simple activity and related reports; maintain inventory and work records as required. Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Facility Maintenance Worker I
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months of work experience in carpentry, electrical and maintenance work is desirable.
SALARY
Facility Maintenance Worker I: $23.31 - $29.75 per hour
Intern: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
WORK HOURS
Position works approximately 16-20 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings and will require some weekend hours.

Employees are paid bi-weekly. With the exception of Worker’s Compensation Coverage and sick leave, no other benefits are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal law.
Temporary/Part-time employees work no more than
130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.
