Description

The Stockton Port District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Electrician.
This is a Journeyman-level classification, which under general supervision performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostic work on a variety of electrical equipment, including cranes.
Note: Effective July 1, 2026 the hourly rate for this position will be $44.53.

Examples of Duties:
- Inspects, maintains, repairs, installs, and tests AC and DC electrical systems and equipment, including electrical circuits, transformers, switches, light fixtures, 3 phase motor control systems up to 480v, motors, generators, outlets, control panels, CCTV Cameras and communication networks.

Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Installs conduit and pull wire for motors, control panels, light fixtures, and outlets.

May perform cable splices of varying complexity including fiber optics.

Provides cost estimates for labor, material, and supplies required to perform a specific assignment.

Performs phase balancing operations and load computations on a variety of electrical circuits.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:- A minimum of four (4) years related experience at a Journeyman-level.
- Experience working with different kinds of electrical devices and systems with a high level of responsibility and attention to safety precautions.
Certificates and Licenses:

Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and be insurable under the Port’s liability policy or provide other insurance acceptable to the Port.

Medical clearance for respirator use.

Must pass a background investigation and be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

About the Port:
The Port of Stockton was established under the California Harbors and Navigation Code. It is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners (Board). Four commissioners are appointed by the Stockton City Council and three by the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. The day-to-day administration of Port operations is under the direction of the Port Director who is selected by and serves at the will of the Board.
The Port is a deep-water port located seventy-five miles inland from San Francisco, in the agricultural heartland of California in San Joaquin County. The Port owns and operates marine terminals which are used to load and unload cargo from ships, barges, trucks, and railcars, and to store cargos. Cargos handled by the Port include various dry and liquid bulk, general, and project cargos in the agriculture, foods, infrastructure and building, energy, and renewable fuels commodity sectors. The Port also leases land and warehousing facilities to a number of diverse tenants. Port operations are self-supporting and receive no direct tax subsidies.
