At NorthBay Health, the HIM Technician II – Birth Certificate Registrar is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate completion of birth certificate registrations in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role conducts interviews with parents, collects required data, and submits birth information through the Automated Vital Statistics System (AVSS). The technician also facilitates related programs such as the Paternity Opportunity Program (POP), Newborn Screening, Newborn Social Security Number Assignment, WIC, and supports data quality efforts in alignment with CMQCC standards.
Additional duties include retrieving discharged records from nursing units, scanning Newborn Assessment Records for continuity of care, and assisting with monitoring transcription reports held in QA.
