Classification: ANALYST II

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor I of the Division of Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Administrative Branch, the incumbent will be responsible for varied high level analytical and administrative work involving procurement and inventory, service contracts or agreements, managers’ meeting coordination, telecommunication services, vehicle optimization, and other administrative tasks for division of M&O. Incumbent will work collaboratively with other associate analysts, TMC Facility Coordinator, and District Telecommunication Representatives for continuous improvement and consistency in performing the job functions. Incumbent will make recommendations on a broad spectrum of program related problems to formulate procedures and alternatives. The incumbent will perform a high level of initiative and independence guaranteeing tasks are handled according to all applicable policies and laws. Incumbent will be responsible to ensure integrity, maintaining the department's Mission, Vision, Values and Goals.

Working Conditions

Position located at 1750 E 4th St Santa Ana CA, Orange County.

Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

The incumbent will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. Employee may also be required to travel locally to field locations and other offices.


This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Qualifications

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
  • A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required
  • The SOQ is a narrative that describes the applicant's qualifications for the position and serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to follow instructions, present information clearly and concisely in writing
  • The SOQ must respond to the criteria given below, be no more than one (1) page, typed, double spaced, and in a 12-point Arial font
  • Prior to providing an answer, applicant must restate the criteria and follow the number format
  • Failure to include and complete the SOQ as instructed may result in the disqualification from the interview

  • Describe your experience in procurement procedures and service contracts.
  • Describe a time when you worked on a complex analytical or administrative project that required thoroughness, critical thinking, and independent decision making. What was the challenge, what strategies were used and what was the outcome?
