Membership Director

The Membership Director is responsible for membership administration, member relations, membership records, and selected accounting and financial functions. The position combines exceptional member service with strong financial and administrative oversight.

Membership & Member Relations

  • Oversee membership applications, transfers, resignations, classifications, and records.
  • Coordinate prospective-member applications, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential membership records.
  • Serve as a primary contact for members regarding membership and account matters.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Membership Committee on membership matters.
  • Conduct appropriate background and financial due diligence on prospective members.
  • Ensure consistent application of membership policies, bylaws, and club standards.


Accounting & Financial Administration

  • Monitor member accounts, dues, fees, assessments, and other membership-related charges.
  • Review membership billing for accuracy and coordinate corrections.
  • Assist with accounts receivable and outstanding member balances.
  • Reconcile membership records with accounting records.
  • Prepare membership-related financial reports for management, committees, and the Board.
  • Assist with annual dues, assessments, budgeting, and membership financial analysis.
  • Coordinate with the club’s accounting/finance team to maintain accurate financial records and controls.


Golf & Club Knowledge

  • Possess a strong understanding and appreciation of the game of golf and private-club culture.
  • Understand golf membership categories, playing privileges, tournaments, handicap requirements, and common golf-club policies.
  • Familiarity with golf operations, tee-time systems, tournaments, golf events, and member golf programs preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with golf members and understand the unique expectations of a private golf club.
  • Golf industry or private-club experience strongly preferred.



Confidentiality & Governance

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding member information, financial records, applications, and club business.
  • Provide accurate and objective information to the Membership Committee, Finance Committee, management, and Board.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls.
  • Exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive member and financial matters.


This is a seasonal part-time position working approximately 30 hours per week at the start with the potential to earn more hours over time.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience preferred
  • Experience in private clubs, golf clubs, hospitality, membership administration, accounting, or a related field

Important Distinction:

  • This is not a traditional sales position
  • Memberships are by invitation only and must be referred by current members
  • The Director is responsible for membership administration, member relations, due diligence, financial accuracy, and maintaining the integrity and standards of the club's membership
