We aim to enhance the quality of life for underserved and vulnerable patients while educating future generations of highly skilled, compassionate primary care specialists. Our goal is to combine education, patient advocacy, and evidence-based research to advance family medicine and geriatrics.
USC Street Medicine, housed within the Division of Street Medicine and the Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, provides full-service primary care to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness within the City of Los Angeles. All care is delivered where patients reside including under bridges, in parks and on the city sidewalks. There is no fixed-site clinic as clinical delivery is done via walking rounds with a pick-up truck and backpacks. With the vision that all unsheltered homeless in LA County have access to healthcare, the team is poised for a year of growth in the realm of clinical delivery, education/ workforce development, research and advocacy.
USC Street Medicine is looking for a part-time (2 days per week) Registered Nurse to join our practice for a limited time, from September 1st, 2026 to May 31st, 2027. The ideal candidate is a clinically skilled RN, who is a quick learner, and is dedicated to caring for vulnerable patients. This is an ideal opportunity for an RN looking to get their start in Street Medicine.
This is a part-time, 2 days a week, 8am-4pm on-site at the Los Angeles, CA office. Some after-hour and weekend work may be involved. It is not a hybrid or remote position.
Nursing Care duties include, but are not limited to:
Assesses health care needs of patients. Plans, implements and evaluates care designed to meet patient health care needs.
Administers medications, obtains specimens, and follows procedures for medication control. Performs nursing interventions and procedures; assists with complex procedures, and responds to emergencies per protocol.
Provides comprehensive documentation of each encounter, including history, assessment, medications, allergies, treatments/procedures, and patient education. Ensures accurate, complete documentation for billing.
