This ALLIED TRADES WORKER position, is located in a Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facilityand is part of the CA CSMS Long Beach.

Duties

  • THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the ALLIED TRADES WORKER, WG-5801-8, is to assist higher graded workers in performing work in the skilled trades' occupations in support of maintenance functions. Engages in joint operations with higher graded workers. Rotates through trades areas to gain experience. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications

  • General Experience: Possess experience, education, or training which provides the ability to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and use common tools and equipment in the line of work
  • ALLIED TRADES WORKER, WG-5801-8: Must have at least 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and various machine tools involved in various simple fabrications
  • Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of metal body parts, components, and accessories
  • Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of operating welding and cutting equipment for fabrication and repair
  • Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of constructing and repairing wooden items
  • Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)

Requirements:

  • CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment

  • Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity

  • PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest
  • Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance
  • May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period
  • Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards
  • Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required
