Certified Security Systems Technician
Location: Greater Bay Area, California

Salary: 40.00–55.00 per hour
Job Summary
Diligence Security Group (DSG) is seeking an experienced Certified Security Systems Technician to support current and upcoming security technology projects throughout the Greater Bay Area.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Security Center, including video surveillance and/or electronic access control systems.
IMPORTANT: This position requires a current Genetec technical certification. Applicants must be able to provide a copy of their current certification for verification.
Certification Requirements
Candidates must hold at least one current Genetec technical certification, preferably:
- Security Center Omnicast Technical Certification
- Security Center Synergis Technical Certification
Candidates holding both Omnicast and Synergis certifications are strongly preferred.
Additional or advanced Genetec Security Center certifications are a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot Genetec Security Center systems.
- Configure and support Omnicast video surveillance solutions.
- Configure and support Synergis electronic access control solutions.
- Install and configure IP cameras, card readers, access-control panels, controllers, servers, workstations, and related equipment.
- Program users, permissions, schedules, access rules, alarms, recording settings, and system devices.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose hardware, software, device, and network connectivity issues.
- Perform system upgrades, configuration changes, and service work as required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and project scopes.
- Complete installation, service, testing, and commissioning documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment serviced.
- Coordinate with DSG management, clients, vendors, contractors, and other project personnel.
- Maintain a professional presence at client facilities.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, safety procedures, and client site requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Current Genetec Omnicast and/or Synergis technical certification.
- Hands-on experience with Genetec Security Center.
- Experience with commercial video surveillance and/or electronic access control systems.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting IP cameras and network-connected security devices.
- Knowledge of access-control panels, card readers, controllers, and related components.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and network troubleshooting.
- Experience with low-voltage security systems.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to project locations throughout the Greater Bay Area.
- Ability to meet applicable client background, security, and site-access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current certifications in both Genetec Omnicast and Synergis.
- Additional or advanced Genetec Security Center certifications.
- Experience with enterprise or multi-site Genetec environments.
- Experience with Genetec system upgrades, migrations, integrations, federation, or failover.
- Experience integrating video surveillance and electronic access-control systems.
- Experience with Mercury, HID, or similar access-control hardware.
- Experience supporting commercial, government, institutional, or critical-infrastructure environments.
- Experience independently commissioning and troubleshooting integrated security systems.
Computer & Technology Requirements
Candidates must be comfortable working with computers, network-connected security equipment, and technical software.
The technician must be able to:
- Navigate and configure Genetec Security Center applications.
- Work with Windows-based computers, servers, and workstations.
- Perform TCP/IP and network connectivity troubleshooting.
- Configure IP addresses and network-connected security devices.
- Work with IP cameras, video management systems, access-control hardware, and associated software.
- Use diagnostic and configuration tools for system installation and troubleshooting.
- Maintain electronic project documentation, service records, and technical reports.
- Maintain appropriate security and confidentiality when accessing client systems and networks.
Physical Requirements
This is a field-based technical position that may require:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Working in equipment rooms and other restricted work areas.
- Climbing and working from ladders or approved elevated work platforms when required.
- Using hand tools, testing equipment, and installation equipment.
- Lifting and carrying tools, cameras, access-control components, and related equipment.
- Working indoors and outdoors depending on the project.
- Traveling between client and project locations throughout the Greater Bay Area.

Project-Based Assignment
This position supports current and upcoming DSG security technology projects.
Candidates should understand:
- Work may be assigned on a project-by-project basis.
- Project duration may vary.
- Weekly hours may vary based on project requirements.
- Assignments may include installation, commissioning, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service calls.
- Projects may be located throughout the Greater Bay Area.
- Some assignments may require early morning, evening, weekend, or after-hours availability.
- Completion of one project does not guarantee assignment to subsequent projects.
Specific schedules, project locations, expectations, and assignment terms will be communicated before deployment.
