Under the direction of the Administrative Sergeant, the School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator (SPTSC) will be responsible for interviewing, fingerprinting and processing applicants for all school bus classes. The SPTSC will conduct both written and driving tests, issue temporary certification for original and renewal drivers in each of the following categories: School Bus, School Pupil Activity Bus (SPAB), Youth Bus, Farm Labor Vehicles, General Passenger Para-transit Vehicle (GPPV) and Vehicles for Developmentally Disabled Persons (VDDP). The SPTSC will also collect fees, issue receipts, process all paperwork, review accident reports involving regulated drivers, and coordinate activities with other CHP Areas and Allied Agencies to provide proper driver monitoring.

Qualifications

  • The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

  • Incumbents currently in the classification who are eligible to transfer shall upload a completed and signed CHP 220N, Request for Transfer-Nonuniformed, form to this job control.   • The CHP utilizes their own School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator classification to be eligible to take the examination. To obtain certification list eligibility, please view the examination bulletin link below and follow all instructions. In addition to applying for the examination, applicants MUST submit an application to this Job Control to be considered for the position.
