Under direction of the Program Manager I, the Emergency Notification Controller (ENC) is responsible for a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to, receiving, coordinating and disseminating information. The ENC conducts daily contact with all levels of federal, state and local government, business industry, and the private sector, providing the State with 24-hr warning capability. Works in a team environment on shift rotations and will follow the directions of the Watch Officer to provide support to the Warning Center operations.

The Warning Center has alternate locations established outside of Headquarters premise to maintain operational support to Cal OES. In an event of an emergency that requires the Warning Center staff to evacuate the building, or during normal operations where staff will be assigned to the designated alternate work location, reports to such designated location as directed or scheduled by Warning Center management.

Working Conditions

In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

Special Requirements:

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

Background Investigation:

  • Candidates are required to submit to a background investigation process, including but not limited to Live Scan fingerprinting to obtain Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations clearances
