Preschool Teacher-Migrant Education Program (Madera)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Preschool Services Specialist, Migrant Education Program (MEP), the Preschool Teacher provides direct tutoring to individual and small groups of migrant children primarily in the areas of reading, writing, English as a Second Language (ESL) and mathematics. Provides and assists in the coordination and implementation of instruction and the development of supplemental programs in homes and at assigned school sites for PK students and their families in the MEP for Region 3; identifies qualified children into services sponsored by a federal MEP, to enhance education and learning and connect them to health care and other resources, all in the interest of supporting educational development; communicates with parents, staff and others to provide information on program activities, student progress or related matters; provides instructional support, serves as a liaison/resource for administrators and instructional personnel in developing strategies, enrichment activities, and interventions for migrant students and their families; provides assessments; assists and counsel students; and collaborates with the educational community.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in the language to be served (Spanish)

• Valid CA driver's license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law
• DMV printout required
• Experience: One year of experience working with preschool or school-age students in a mentoring, teaching/tutoring or other educational setting
