Vacancy Announcement Details
The California Military Department is accepting applications for the State Active-Duty position indicated above. An appointment to this position provides full benefit status for the appointee and their beneficiaries. The incumbent will be appointed on annually renewable State Active-Duty orders through year six, at which time the incumbent may be eligible for career status IAW CMD Reg 600-1, dated 15 November 2024. Continuation and
subsequent extensions of service will be determined by the individual’s performance of duty and continuation of funding. The Service Member selected for this position will be paid at their Federal pay grade, not to exceed E4. This announcement has minimum requirements. Eligibility Requirements
• Active members of the California Military Department (Air) in the grades E-2 through E-5 may apply. Applicants must have a militia affiliation per Para 5-2 of CMD Reg. 600-1.
• Must posess a 3P0X1 AFSC or have completed USAF Security Forces Augmentee training (certificate or letter of certification of augmentee training required).
• Must have knowledge of basic principle of first aid, fire prevention, safety and human relations.
• Must be qualified or be capable of becoming qualified to bear firearms and remain qualified to carry fireams.
• Must meet the suitability to arm requirements of AFI 31-117.
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Never have been convicted by civilian or military court except for minor traffic violations and similar infraction.
• Must be capable of taking prompt efficient action in cases of fire, attempted theft, espionage, sabotage, and other acts detrimental to safeguarding property and ANG resources.
• Comes in daily contact with military and civilian personnel and must use good judgment and tact in their action.
• Applicants must maintain good standing with militia component.
• Completion of militia and civilian education requirements commensurate with the grade of the applicant are required.
• Militia assignments appropriate to the grade of the applicant are required.
• Applicants must meet, and maintain, militia component medical and physical fitness standards.
• Appropriate militia uniform with federal or state recognized rank will be worn in accordance with militia regulation.
• Must be able to pass State and Federal background checks (Live Scan), and California Military Department status verification. Continuation of employment is contingent upon maintaining favorable background checks.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Security Forces Manager at the Fresno Air National Guard Base. The Fresno Air National Guard Base, the Fresno Air National Guard Base is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities.
• Performs security and resource protection duties within the ANG area of responsibility.
• Patrols installation to ensure federal property and ANG resources are properly secured.
• Control Entry to the 144 FW Installation as certified Installation Entry Controllers.
• Supports the mission as members of Security Response Teams.
• Responds to all installation emergencies, i.e., aircraft mishaps/accidents, personnel injuries, vehicle accidents and fire or hazardous materials incidents.
• Conduct physical security checks of installation property.
• Write reports and take statements.
• Perform duties as the Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) controller, operates and monitors all security communication systems, phones & radios, to include Intrusion Detection System and duress alarms.
• Perform duties as Intrusion Detection Monitor and maintain communications with the base patrol and other Law Enforcement Agencies.
• Operates and monitors Security Surveillance Camera System that provides surveillance the entire Installation.
• Dispatches and coordinates field units when tactically responding to emergencies or incidents.
• Contacts local, federal or civil law enforcement officials to obtain assistance when ANG resources are threatened.
• Handles emergencies until appropriate key personnel are contacted and they assume responsibility for the situation.
• Performs various administrative and managerial functions within the squadron, as appointed by the commander.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
