Vacancy Announcement Details 
The California Military Department is accepting applications for the State Active-Duty position indicated above. An appointment to this position provides full benefit status for the appointee and their beneficiaries. The incumbent will be appointed on annually renewable State Active-Duty orders through year six, at which time the incumbent may be eligible for career status IAW CMD Reg 600-1, dated 15 November 2024. Continuation and 
subsequent extensions of service will be determined by the individual’s performance of duty and continuation of funding. The Service Member selected for this position will be paid at their Federal pay grade, not to exceed

Eligibility Requirements  
• Active members of the California Military Department (Army & Air Only) in the grades O-1 through O-4 may apply. Applicants must have a militia affiliation per Para 5-2 of CMD Reg. 600-1.   
• Must possess and maintain a secret level clearance.  
• Must posses excellent written/verbal communication skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels; both military and civilian.  
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.  
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.  
• Ability to effectively problem solve and communicate with the utmost professionalism.  
• Must have completed ICS 100.b.  
• Must be a member of the active California National Guard.  
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the CMD organizational structure, its capabilities, and be proficient in military operations. 
• Applicants must maintain good standing with militia component. 
• Completion of militia and civilian education requirements commensurate with the grade of the applicant are required.  
• Militia assignments appropriate to the grade of the applicant are required. 
• Applicants must meet, and maintain, militia component medical and physical fitness standards. 
• Appropriate militia uniform with federal or state recognized rank will be worn in accordance with militia regulation. 
• Must be able to pass State and Federal background checks (Live Scan), and California Military Department status verification. Continuation of employment is contingent upon maintaining favorable background checks. 
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 
Under the direct supervision of the J33, the incumbent is responsible for the daily operations, management, and prioritization of duties for the Operations NCO (E-7) and Assistant Operations NCO (E-6). During surge 
operations, oversees and manages supplementing personnel, to include GDOS, AGR, and ESAD personnel. 
• Responsible for tracking all CMD forces involved and available for numerous Civil Support operations. Provide situational awareness to the Adjutant General, General Officers and senior staff on all CMD operations, deployments, and personnel & equipment readiness.  
• Manage a fluctuating crew of 4-12 personnel assigned to the Joint Operation Center. Receive, track, and resource all requests for information or equipment to support large-scale Civil Support operations.  
• Provide recommendations for force and resource allocations to the J3 Director.  
• Assist the J35 planning officers in the development of WARNOs, FRAGOs, and OPORDs.  
• Work directly with the Office of Emergency Services to resource requests for military support.  
• Analyzes operational gaps and leverages shortfalls by providing the appropriate resources and guidance to achieve J33 Branch Chief’s intent.  
• Maintains and enforces standards, meets training objectives, mentors, and develops JOC personnel.  
• Ensures the health, welfare, and morale of JOC personnel and their families.  
• Maintains situational awareness and provides current and accurate information to J33 Branch Chief and senior leaders.  
• Enables superiors to make immediate decisions and take actions utilizing CMD capabilities during disasters and emergencies.  
• Understands the operational environment and supports the J33 Branch Chief and senior leaders with their priorities.
