Job Summary – Pharmacy Technician
We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations within a correctional healthcare setting. In this role, you will assist licensed pharmacists with medication preparation, distribution, and inventory control while following established procedures and safety standards. This position requires accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a structured clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with preparing, counting, labeling, and packaging medications
- Accurately document medication orders and pharmacy records
- Maintain medication inventory and monitor expiration dates
- Restock supplies and organize pharmacy storage areas
- Support medication distribution processes according to facility protocols
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and medication handling guidelines
- Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nursing staff, and healthcare team members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy work area
- Support daily pharmacy operations in a secure, structured setting
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of California
- Minimum of 1 year of recent pharmacy technician experience
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Three professional references
- Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and terminology
- Ability to work effectively in a structured environment
- Reliable, professional, and well‑organized
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to pass background check and facility clearance requirements
- Must have been retired as a civil servant for a minimum of 1 year
