About the Position
The Accounting Technician processes payroll, maintains financial records, reconciles accounts, and supports reporting. This role requires accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and effective communication to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
The current vacancy is Limited – Term to two years. The appointment may be extended depending on budget and operational needs.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in payroll and accounting, and proficient in technical financial systems. They demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and effective communication. Familiarity with public sector payroll processes, including experience processing payroll for Police and Fire employees, and experience using MOMS or Tyler is highly desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training:
• Equivalent to the completion of the grade supplemented by college level course work in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
Experience:
• Three years’ experience performing increasingly responsible accounting support services
Desirable Characteristics:
• Public Sector Payroll Processing Experience
• Experience with using, implementing, or processing payroll in TYLER MUNIS.
