ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside County Flood Control Department is seeking a Temporary Equipment Parts Storekeeper to join its team in Riverside.
The Equipment Parts Storekeeper is responsible for procuring, storing, and issuing parts essential to the maintenance of a large fleet of automotive, road construction, and road maintenance equipment. The role includes coordinating with various vendors, sourcing specialized or hard-to-find components, and preparing inventory reports for departmental use. Essential programs utilized in this position include asset management software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and other County systems. The selected candidate may also be required to travel throughout Riverside County to manage inventory at additional Flood Control facilities.
Competitive applicants will have experience using asset management systems and generating inventory reports. Proficiency or advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are highly desirable.
Work experience at an automotive parts supplier performing inventory management, reporting, and cycle counts is also desired.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Keeps a large perpetual inventory of small fast moving parts used in common repairs on a variety of automotive and construction equipment; determines order points for supplies and materials and orders as necessary.
• Receives checks, stores and issues materials and equipment; checks prices on incoming parts and insures appropriate credit on exchanges; assists in identifying sources for parts not stocked and selects supplier for necessary parts.
• Participates in the checking on repair jobs in the shop, anticipating parts needs and ordering in advance or expressed need; participates in and leads assigned warehouse staff in the inspection of deliveries for damaged equipment and supplies or discrepancies in quantity, size, type and terms of purchase orders.
• Purchases parts and materials from suppliers on open purchase orders; maintains inventory control records, insuring that parts and supplies are charged to correct vehicle or Transportation Department district.
• Keeps abreast of possible sources for parts and arranges appropriate transportation for parts to have available when needed; arranges for farming out repair work to local shops and negotiates cost.
• Obtains, stores, and issues welding, painting, and special steel, metal and other road supplies; keeps records and prepares reports.
