Part-Time, Teaching-Track Faculty Position in Physical Education & Mind Body Health

The Department of Physical Education & Mind Body Health in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their general health and fitness through fitness and wellness activities and classroom lecture classes.

We are seeking outstanding candidates for a part-time instructor position for the 2026-2027 academic year. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, or related fields, possess certifications in related fitness areas, and have demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of fitness courses.

Under the guidance of the Director of Physical Education & Mind Body Health, the primary responsibilities will include instruction of activity-based fitness and classroom lecture courses. Our pedagogy philosophy is to make an impact on students’ overall wellbeing through teaching and building community, through a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in any of the following:

· Kinesiology:

· Physical Education:

· Exercise Science:

· Recreational Sport/Administration:

· Education (with an emphasis in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise or Adaptive Physical Education):

Bachelor's Degree in any of the following:

· Any Life Science:

· Dance:

· Physiology:

· Health Education:

· Recreational Sports:

· Physical Therapy or the equivalent:

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• A Master's degree is preferred
• Promotion opportunities are available for those with a Master's degree
• Faculty with a Bachelor's degree will be provided with a one-year appointment
• Prior teaching experience in college-level courses and/or training certifications in the domains of wellness, health, and fitness
