Software Integration Engineer, Low Voltage Power - Palo Alto [274753]

$140,000 - $300,000 yearly

Job Description

The Low Voltage Power Team is responsible for power distribution on all Tesla vehicle platforms.

As a Software Integration Engineer on this team, you work side by side with various cross-functional teams to lead the design and development of the power management firmware. This includes, but is not limited to, low voltage power redundancy and latent fault detection for by-wire and autonomous vehicles, vehicle fault and crash behaviors, power management for over-the-air updates (OTAs), and low / idle power modes and sleep features.

This role utilizes hardware, software, and system design fundamentals to support new product design, define vehicle behaviors, bring-up prototypes, and validation. Low Voltage Power Software Integration Engineers are leading new technology development for the next generations of Tesla vehicles and are responsible for overall functionality and performance of low voltage power distribution systems throughout product life cycle.

The Role

  • Architecting vehicle low voltage power systems including power distribution, power management, and network management
  • Distill vehicle product requirements into actionable software and hardware requirements, and define system hardware and software interfaces
  • Lead system behavior design of low voltage power distribution products and features
  • Bring-up and debug early software and hardware prototypes through characterizing the systems and ensuring systems perform to requirements and support validation teams in developing component and system level testing strategies to meet product requirements
  • Understand and debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment of products or features
  • Perform field data analytics to improve behaviors and performance of the system
  • Analyze changes to assess impact to systems by summarizing impacted devices, interfaces and process in the hardware and software domain
  • Perform FMEA and HARA for low voltage power systems
