Job Description

Technical Program Managers at Tesla Motors drive programs from R&D concept to high volume production. As a member of the HV Battery Structural Design Engineering team, you will manage the product development of our vehicle battery programs. The role requires a highly organized mindset, a passion to launch new technologies, and an unparalleled ability to pull people together to make things happen.

The Battery Engineering team is comprised of various teams, including Structures, Pack, Module, Devices, and Electronics engineering. The unique expertise of our team focuses on the structural design of all Tesla vehicles. We design the components that make up the foundation of the battery, enabling the most efficient and safe EVs on the road. While our team focuses heavily on ensuring occupant safety and controlled environments for the battery cells, our responsibility goes far beyond.

Our designs and schedules push the limits of physical possibility, which requires you to be extremely detail oriented and drive the cross functional teams to execute quickly at high quality. You will drive collaboration with many engineering groups, and ensure our team is aligned with company priorities. A team player mentality is highly valued, as you are the design representative on the ground collaborating with our multiple cross-functional colleagues. Tesla moves quickly, so being self-motivated and disciplined is key to being successful in this role.

The Role

  • Create, maintain, and communicate schedules and plans for battery programs
  • Drive action with design engineering and cross functional teams to successfully complete projects within time and resource constraints
  • Be responsible for understanding and communicating the latest program plan of record, reporting effectively on status, blockers, and changes
  • Lead the team with confidence through rapid development cycles, changing requirements, and uncertainty
