Job Description

Perform gardening and groundskeeping across campus sites to maintain safe, functional, and sustainable outdoor environments with native and drought-resistant plantings, debris control, equipment operation, and support for site operations and green initiatives.

The Role

  • Perform gardening duties including planting, pruning, weeding, and care for lawns, shrubs, trees, and flower beds emphasizing native drought-resistant species
  • Conduct debris cleanup around buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeters using blowers, rakes, and collection equipment
  • Maintain grounds by mowing, edging, mulching, and applying eco-friendly treatments for soil health, pest control, and erosion prevention
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as electric mowers, trimmers, pressure washers, and utility vehicles including towing trailers
  • Monitor and address safety hazards such as spills, blockages, or overgrown areas while supporting seasonal snow/ice or storm cleanup
  • Collaborate with facilities & engineering teams to integrate grounds work with site operations, EV infrastructure, solar areas, and green initiatives like composting or pollinator gardens
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, waste management, and safety standards while documenting work, reporting issues, and recommending improvements

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of combined experience in gardening, landscaping, debris removal, or facilities maintenance preferably in corporate or industrial settings
  • Knowledge of sustainable practices including organic pest management, recycling, water-efficient techniques, irrigation systems, and waste sorting
  • Valid driver’s license with experience operating utility vehicles or towing trailers preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and waste management protocols
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
