The West Sacramento Police Department will soon be recruiting for a Part-Time Program Assistant – Community Outreach to support our community engagement, outreach, and public education efforts.
💰 Pay: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour
🕒 Schedule: Approximately 24 hours per week (no more than 1,500 hours a year)

The Program Assistant will help support the planning, coordination, and implementation of community outreach programs and activities while assisting with administrative functions, public communication, promotional materials, data tracking, and other projects supporting the Police Department's community engagement efforts.
We’re especially interested in candidates who bring experience, education, or skills in areas such as:
• Community outreach, engagement, or public relations
• Community-based programs, nonprofits, schools, or public service
• Event planning, coordination, and volunteer activities
• Customer service and other positions involving significant public contact
• Social media, communications, marketing, or public information
• Creating flyers, presentations, educational materials, or other outreach content
• Collecting information, maintaining records, tracking program activity, or basic data analysis
• Working effectively with diverse community groups, organizations, businesses, and government partners
• Public administration, criminal justice, communications, sociology, social sciences, marketing, or related fields
Candidates who are organized, approachable, creative, dependable, comfortable communicating with the public, and able to work independently while being part of a team may be particularly well suited for this opportunity.
The Program Assistant classification requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience involving public contact. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is desirable but not required.
