Overview

The Marshall provides exceptional professionalism and customer service to members and guests on the course. This role enforces club rules related to golf etiquette and play with a balance of courtesy and authority, while proactively ensuring a smooth pace of play and fostering a positive overall experience for all players.

Reports to the Head Golf Professional.

Experience Required

  • Prior experience in a similar role or extensive knowledge of golf preferred.
  • Ability to walk long distances and carry heavy bags (up to 75 lbs.) for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff.
  • Excellent knowledge of golf etiquette, rules, and best practices.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to providing outstanding service.
  • High attention to detail and reliability.
  • Ability to work outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and humidity.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs., talking, hearing, and seeing.
  • Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
  • Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.



Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist members and guests by offering advice on golf course etiquette, assisting with lost balls, and providing rides upon request.
  • Inform members and guests about club offerings, features, events, and golf shop specials.
  • Ensure presence on the course as scheduled and coordinate with starters or other golf operations staff to report incidents or issues requiring attention.
  • Consistently enforce club rules related to the golf course, ensuring a smooth experience for all players.
  • Address rule violations professionally while maintaining a courteous demeanor.
  • Repair ball marks when possible, fill divots with topsoil, pick up loose items on the course, and ensure cart guidance ropes and supports are straightened.
  • Collaborate with outside services, range attendants, and cart attendants to ensure smooth and efficient service for members and guests.
  • Ensure daily duties in assigned areas are completed to club standards, including keeping the course free of trash, restocking supplies, and maintaining tidy signage.
  • Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain professionalism and commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Follow safe working practices and comply with safety guidelines.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to the role.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources and work with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
  • Attend daily briefings and engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to team success.
