Job Summary

Del Oro High School is recruiting for a Student Intervention Specialist - Behavior. This position is 7 hours per day, Monday-Friday. The successful candidate will be required to complete FBI/DOJ clearance, a post-offer/pre-placement screening exam, a DMV pull notice, and pre-employment online training.

Requirements / Qualifications

Position requires a valid California Driver's License, clean driving record, and valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision and direction of the school principal or administrative designee, perform a
variety of communication, mentorship, discipline, security, and clerical functions in monitoring
supervision, discipline, and attendance of students; actively patrol and supervise campus
activities to ensure the well-being and safety of students and staff in classroom and non classroom activities.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Meet and interact with students and student groups on a regular basis to better understand
campus culture and student safety needs.
Develop relationships and rapport with students to encourage appropriate student behaviors,
and serve as a mentor.
Communicate and interface with students, families and community members.
Monitor student behavior and activity during passing periods and lunchtime; ensure students
arrive to class in a timely manner.
Oversee school campus (including lunch areas, walk ways, restrooms, locker rooms and
parking lots) and surrounding areas.
Coordinate and supervise extracurricular events and activities as assigned.
Assist with attendance monitoring, home visits and/or residency checks.
Develop and implement, in collaboration with administrators, discipline procedures based on
restorative practices.
Provide discipline monitoring, including the input of interventions and discipline information into
the student information system and contacting parent/guardian.
Supervise in-school suspension and detention including Saturday School (site specific) as
needed.
Respond to and/or investigate unauthorized behavior and illegal activities.
Refer staff, students, parents/guardians and families to school district and/or community
resources.
Use appropriate technologies, including computer hardware, computer software and
communication equipment.
Maintain logs and reports of critical incidents in compliance with district, local, state and federal
policies.
Collect and analyze data about discipline/attendance programs.
Understand school site operations and administrative procedures for confidentiality.
Address presence of unauthorized persons on campus and report to the appropriate
administrator.
May accompany or drive students to and from home, community based outings, jobs and/or
field trips.
Develop and facilitate prevention-focused workshops, in collaboration with other staff, to provide
students with resources regarding offenses that would require school discipline and examples of
positive behavior models.
Create and adjust discipline training modules in Google Slides and/or Canvas on topics such as
Drugs and Alcohol, Vaping, Bullying, Cheating/Plagiarism, Online Safety, Hate Speech, etc.
Attend meetings as requested.
Attend required trainings.

required duties.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and
experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above; requires a valid California
driver’s license; requires a valid CPR/first aid certificate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires physical strength and endurance for standing, sitting, bending, or walking for an
extended period of time.
Visual acuity to monitor student activities.

Valid California Driver’s License.
Complete a DMV Pull Notice.
Adhere to PUHSD’s Board Policies and Administrative Regulations regarding of driving students
in district purchased vehicles.


HAZARDS:
Potential physical hazards involved in intervening in fight and other anti-social, illegal and violent
behavior.
