Ione (per diem) Sat-Wed 1pm-9:30pm AND Wed-Sun 5:30am-2pm with 2-week paid orientation @ $56/hr after orientation

 

Job Summary – Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) to provide psychiatric and basic nursing care in a correctional healthcare setting. In this role, you will support patients with mental health needs, assist with treatment plans, and work closely with licensed providers in a structured clinical environment.

The ideal candidate is professional, patient‑focused, and able to maintain a calm and respectful approach while following established clinical, safety, and facility procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct psychiatric and basic nursing care under provider supervision
  • Monitor and document patient behavior, mental status, and response to treatment
  • Assist with and administer medications as directed
  • Support therapeutic activities and patient care plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to clinical staff
  • Follow all safety, security, and facility protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare and support teams

Qualifications

  • Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license in the state of California
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent psychiatric or behavioral health experience (correctional or institutional experience preferred)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
  • Three professional references
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a structured, secure environment
  • Professional, reliable, and emotionally resilient
  • Ability to pass background and facility clearance requirements
  • Must have been retired as a civil servant for a minimum of 1 year
