Mechanic performs mechanical maintenance and repairs; and/or performs welder and irrigation functions.  Makes working adjustments and minor maintenance and repairs and may operate heavier equipment and a variety of other cemetery tasks as assigned.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTION   Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. Renders preventative maintenance to cemetery vehicles and machinery on scheduled basis; repairs vehicles and equipment as necessary. Maintains tools and mechanical equipment in good order and ensures their security. May install and maintain irrigation system(s) according to specifications. Works in the direct interment/entombment of the deceased, or disinterment/disentombment of remains. Trims memorials and monuments on cemetery grounds. Maintains cemetery grounds and buildings under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor. Full time position requires 40 hours per week. Overtime is required as needed.   In addition to general grounds worker duties, the Specialty Grounds I – Special Skills has knowledge, experience and currently performs at least one desired skill in the areas of landscaping, sprinkler systems, plumbing, welding, carpentry, construction, mechanical or operational. Requires direct supervision on the majority or required trade skill sets.
