The Department of State Hospitals- Napa, Registry Department is currently accepting applications for Permanent, Intermittent Psychiatric Technician Assistants(S) (PTA) vacancies. We are seeking PTA(S) who are committed to supporting DSH-Napa Registry Pool with duties related to escorting patients to and from on grounds clinics, Family Visitors Center, Community hospital, Program/Unit and Central Staffing Office coverage.  Permanent, Intermittent employees work up to 1500 hours per fiscal year.   In order to maintain a position in the Registry all permanent, intermittent employees are required to work a minimum of: Twelve (12) 8-hour shifts per calendar month at least six (6) of which must be weekend shifts; Three (3) major holidays and three (3) high need days per calendar year must be worked (requirements are defined in registry guidelines). Psychiatric Technicians, in addition to their custody responsibilities,   promote and implement principles of Wellness and Recovery, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation, provide a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care and are expected through their attitude, knowledge, and performance to facilitate the rehabilitation of patients.   Psychiatric Technicians work to maintain order and supervise the conduct of patients, to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property; to provide a basic level of general behavioral psychiatric nursing care to patients who are committed as sexually violent predator commitments (W&I Code 6600 et seq.) and / or mentally ill inmates admitted from the Department of Corrections (pursuant to Penal Code 2684).
