The Ventura County Sheriff's Office is seeking an experienced Helicopter Pilot for a rewarding career. Incumbents serve as Pilot in Command (PIC) during a full range of helicopter missions, are responsible for the safe overall operation of Ventura County Sheriff's Office aircraft, and have the final authority for all safety-of-flight aspects of the helicopter operations. In addition, pilots fly over all types of terrain during aerial firefighting, law enforcement, crew/equipment transport, reconnaissance, medical rescue, disaster mitigation and related activities; maintains pilot flight logs and records; performs minor repairs and inspections and performs other duties as required. CURRENT SALARY (While Attending the Academy) IS $39.7076/hour or an ANNUAL SALARY of $82,591.86. After successful completion of the Police Academy, the salary is increased to $50.3457 - $58.3857/hour or an ANNUAL SALARY OF $104,719.16 - $121,442.36. There are frequent overtime opportunities for Rose Bowl and Downtown Pasadena events. Once you become a Police Officer there are also multiple assignments offered with premium pay, such as Motorcycle Patrol, Aircraft/Helicopter Pilot, Helicopter Observer Duty, (Field Training Officer (FTO), Gang Detail, SWAT, and Special Investigations. If you possess an Advanced POST as a Police Officer, you will be eligible to receive differential pay of 14.5% of base pay.
