Description The County of Mono is now hiring to fill a vacant Deputy Sheriff position. The vacant position will be Lateral hire, starting as a Deputy Sheriff I/II. Under supervision, to perform law enforcement, crime prevention, and crime detection activities; to occasionally guard and supervise inmates in County Jail facilities; to act as a bailiff; may be assigned operations supervision. May be assigned to work as an undercover narcotics officer; may be assigned to train new deputy sheriffs; perform Coroner’s investigations/duties and do related work as required.  This class is the journey-level sworn class in the Sheriff’s series. Description The Correctional Deputy is a dual-trained position in both custody and dispatch. Under supervision, supervises the conduct of prisoners at county holding facilities. The Correctional Deputy assists with and performs booking and screening procedures; assists with the transportation of prisoners; receives and transmits radio and telephone communications and dispatches law enforcement and other public safety personnel. The Correctional Deputy answers questions concerning prisoner's and inmate's status. This is an entry-level position in the Correctional Deputy series. Incumbents conduct periodic security sweeps of the interior and exterior of the courthouse/courtrooms and searches of items carried by persons entering Court facilities.
