Work For Warriors

Mission Statement
To reduce the unemployment / underemployment rate and improve the quality of life for California’s military / veterans, their immediate family members, and at‐risk youth participants of California Military Department Youth Academies.

Services Provided
Work for Warriors is a FREE direct placement program, similar to a headhunter model, which offers a variety of services to both job seekers and hiring businesses. All WFW services are FREE to both the job seeker and the hiring business.

Job Seekers
WFW provides comprehensive guidance through the various stages of the employment search. The process begins with a brief interview to determine the Candidate’s qualifications, preferences, and career goals. Following the initial screen, WFW is able to facilitate job selection options and provide Resume Critique and Resume Writing assistance, Job Application and Completion support, Interview Practice and Preparation, Referrals and Recommendations, and ultimately Direct Job Placement with WFW Business Partners.

In addition to direct placement services, WFW provides assistance with candidate profile and/or career improvement. Candidates can take advantage of WFW Job Fairs, Salary Negotiation Assistance, Social Image Workshops, and Career Counseling. Upon availability, candidates can also learn new marketable skills through WFW referrals to industry‐specific workshops, job training, trade schools, or apprenticeship programs.

Hiring Businesses
WFW provides free advertising to assist employers to fill their open positions. At a minimum, WFW will post business partner job opportunities on to the WFW online Job Board. Additionally, WFW may send out targeted email “blasts” to candidates in the job’s region or post opportunities on to WFW social media.

WFW also provides pre‐screening services for its business partners. Employers save time and effort by receiving only qualified, vetted candidates from WFW. WFW not only reviews and critiques resumes for our partners, but it also collects other required documents (certificates, aptitude tests, cover letters, etc.) and screens them for completeness, validity, and applicability.
