Overview: The technician will be responsible for installing and repairing Natural Gas fuel systems, Propane fuel systems and / or Electric drive trains on Medium and Heavy Duty Truck, Van and Bus applications. This will include, but not be limited to, complete Electric, Natural Gas and / or propane alternative fuel vehicle system integration and installation. Additionally, this role is responsible for field diagnostic troubleshooting, maintenance, and warranty repairs. Must have basic understanding of vehicle control systems, working with pressure vessels, vehicle wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment on trucks and buses. Responsibilities: • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects • Remain in compliance with current National Electric, Natural Gas and Propane Vehicle Codes • Inspect and test components of natural gas, propane and electrical systems, including tanks, regulators, injectors, transformers, transfer switches and switch gears • Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans • Install various aftermarket parts and assemblies on truck such as brackets, wiring, hydraulic lines, air lines, etc. • Installation of Natural Gas and Propane fuel systems • Installation of engine low pressure delivery systems • High pressure system work • Diagnostics • Mobile Field diagnostic and repair work on Natural Gas fuel systems, Propane fuel systems, Electric vehicles or ancillary parts • Ability to travel as needed for Field work Education Experience • High School diploma or GED. • Completion from trade/tech school Skills and qualifications • Candidates should have 3+ years experience preferably in an alternate fuel vehicle environment including high voltage electric vehicle • ASE Certifications (or equivalent) o Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification o Medium-Heavy Truck Certification • Must have very good understanding of fastening systems, torque, measurements tools and other assembly techniques. • Must know how to use different tools and equipment to assemble units according to required specifications in a particular area of a production line. • Must have previous experience/ability to read engineering drawings. • Must have previous experience/ability to read wiring schematics Work Environment: • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
