Summary: Under direct supervision of the Field Supervisor or Post Commanders, the Security Officer is responsible for periodically patrols buildings and grounds of industrial plants, commercial establishments, docks, logging camp areas, or work sites. Guard, patrol, or monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. May communicate with law enforcement on security matters.    Responsibilities: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.  Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.   Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Perform security and risk assessments of all facilities Advise senior leaders on pertinent issues. Work closely with other functional leaders and contractors regarding security issues. Conduct and prepare reports relating to internal investigations of any losses or violations of regulations, policies and procedures. Work with senior management on the company's crisis management efforts, including crisis planning and crisis response. Assist in emergency management and contingency planning preparations. Maintains a highly visible profile to deter criminal and other inappropriate activity. Performs routine foot patrols of client's property to ensure protection of clients, visitors, grounds and equipment, and to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Secures premises and personnel monitoring surveillance equipment; inspects buildings and access points which permit entry; and questions all unauthorized persons on property. Writes reports of daily activities, on an hourly basis, records observations and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Ability to handle typical crisis situations efficiently and in a calm professional manner is essential. Inspects environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informs violators of unacceptable actions. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements, must keep current active status of BSIS Guard License at all times, and carry the license while on duty. Report fire, safety matters or malfunctioning equipment as observed.   Qualifications:   Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, security or closely related field, preferred High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor’s Degree preferred (will consider some college and adequate career experience); Military Experience, preferred Valid BSIS Guard Card.   Skills and Abilities   Problem Solving: Subject to broad policies and specific goals. Tasks vary infrequently. Requires some basic thinking. Problems often involve several elements. Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.   Mandatory Requirements: Employment eligibility verification Valid driver’s license and auto insurance Reliable transportation Must be approved by PPS’s auto insurance Successful completion of background screening Ability to work flexible hours which may include some evenings or weekends 3 to 5 years of strong Corporate Security experience Understanding of physical security issues, proper investigative methodologies and management of investigative services. Security risk assessment and audit experience. Strong understanding of security equipment and software as it relates to security access, cameras and alarm systems.   Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear conversations, and use hands to reach and handle paperwork to do reports and key numbers on a mobile device to submit information.  Requires manual dexterity to feel and use finger movement to complete daily activity reports which document hourly occurrences; and vision is essential to see near and far for the purpose of reading and preparing required reports and performing foot patrols around the premises. May occasionally sit, bend knees twist at waist/neck to perform various duties or do light lifting and/or carry, push and move up to 10 pounds - files, documents, supplies, etc.  Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ramps, squat, stoop, kneel, reach high and low, and/or use depth perception.
