The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority Police Department is actively seeking qualified individuals with a strong commitment to community service to join our team as fully empowered Police Officers, as authorized under Penal Code 830.33.

These officers will perform general law enforcement duties, which include uniformed patrol, traffic enforcement, crowd control, fixed checkpoint operations, and roving patrols on foot, bicycle, and T-3 vehicles. Responsibilities also encompass anti-terrorism efforts, airport and aviation security, and other essential police functions.

Officers will be required to work 4-10 hour shifts and provide continuous 24-hour law enforcement coverage at the airport.

Minimum Requirements: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 21 years of age by the date of appointment
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license
  • Possess a minimum of a Basic POST Certificate

Lateral Transfer In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, lateral transfer applicants must hold a California POST Certificate, and be currently employed full-time as a sworn law enforcement officer with a qualifying California agency. Please note that the Airport Police Department is not affiliated with CalPERS or any other state retirement system. POST Certified Retired Officers In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, retired California police officers with a break in service of three years or less are encouraged to apply. Retired officers with a break in service longer than three years will need to complete the POST 160-hour Requalification Course prior to appointment as an Airport Police Officer.
