The Assistant General Counsel will provide business-oriented legal advice to all levels of company management in connection with obtaining and performing contracts and subcontracts on U.S. Government programs (domestic and international); will advise senior company management on international operations and contract performance, as well as commercial activities, contracts with vendors and a wide variety of other legal matters facing the company ; and will assist and if required, lead the management of contract litigation and/or manage outside legal counsel on various legal matters.
The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, be a member in good standing of the bar in at least one state (preferably California), and have at least two years of relevant experience in a private law firm or as an in-house counsel in the field of federal government contracting. The candidate should also have experience advising clients on U.S. Government contract matters; have familiarity with the FAR/DFARS as well as those requirements unique to contracting with the federal government; have experience overseeing the development of Equitable Price Adjustments and making contract claims against the U.S. Government, both in-house and with the assistance of outside counsel; be experienced in dispute resolution in connection with the U.S. Government; be able to effectively communicate with all levels of U.S. Government agency personnel, including those who manage domestic and international programs; be familiar with contracting and regulatory compliance matters, including FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and possess sound judgment and be capable of working successfully in a dynamic and diverse environment. Experience in general business/commercial litigation and the ability to contribute to business development activities is a plus. Candidates with at least 4-6 years of federal procurement experience in-house at a federal government contractor, major law firm, or both will be given a strong preference.
