Job Summary: To understand and observe all policies and procedure including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Fleet Safety Program, Marsh Ventures, Inc. Motor Carrier Part 382 Alcohol and Controlled Substances Testing Program and the Marsh Ventures, Inc. California Drug and Alcohol Policy. To successfully accomplish and sustain the criteria and responsibilities as a Mixer Driver for Marsh Ventures, Inc. Goal: To meet or exceed our customers’ expectations for the timely delivery of quality ready-mix concrete and related support services, while maintaining safe and cost efficient operations. Job Duties: Delivers perishable ready-mix concrete in a concrete mixer to a customer job site in a safe, timely and courteous manner. Each daily schedule varies as deliveries are customer ordered and production-based and change from day to day and within each day. Delivery activities involve loading the truck by backing under the concrete plant, charging the drum, filling the water tank, obtaining the proper ticket and directions, adding required admixtures or obtaining other required products such as fibers, and getting all proper signatures for receipt of concrete and COD charges. Safely drives the mixer truck to deliver and unload concrete at the customer job site. Inspects the site to ensure truck can be operated safely and delivery can be made safely and efficiently. Mixes the concrete to required slump and consistency while on the customer site and accurately records times and any customer requested water adding at site. The driver works alone and is under tight time constraints at each job site and must document when customer changes or job situations alter driver’s expected wait times per trip. Attaches extension chutes to unload concrete. Wears appropriate PPE at all times. Driver is required to get all proper customer signatures and correctly complete COD paperwork with receipt of payment. Driver should be able to identify problems with concrete quality, or the customer’s application types or additions, that effect concrete quality or time spent on the job, and use judgment in contacting Dispatch when problems arise. Performs daily pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and complies with California and Federal “hours of service” regulations. Each day, will legibly complete all inspection forms and hour logs and turn paperwork into batch plant or maintenance shop as per the company Fleet Safety Program. Will self-manage their meal and break periods through coordination with dispatch and situations at different job sites, as according to the Marsh Ventures, Inc. Meal and Rest Break Policy, including when necessary and agreed to by the employee, use of an on-duty meal period procedure. Maintains a daily neat and clean appearance of self and truck cab. Will also clean the entire truck daily, using environmentally compliant cleaning materials provided at batch plant. Follows all environmental regulations and only wash out leftover concrete on the jobsite where the pour occurred. Operate “reclaimer” for small amounts of residual concrete after job site clean-up is completed. Ensures mixer drum is properly maintained and kept free for concrete build-up on the interior. Treats customers, inspectors, and other employees and managers courteously at all times. Maintains communication with dispatch or batch plant via radio and Trimble system. Performs occasional truck maintenance such as checking of brakes or assistance changing tires, or putting on chains during snow conditions. Performs other duties as required by management. .
