To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a high school graduate or equivalent and must have successfully completed a Surgical Technology Program and obtained a National Surgical Technology certification (CST). Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Must have one year of experience as a Surgical Tech. Cataract experience required. Under direction and supervision of the Circulating R.N. and the Clinical Charge, the Certified Surgical Technician is continuously responsible for assisting in the care of patients in assigned area. Is directly responsible for specific technical duties as directed. Strives to assist with performing surgical procedures in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible. Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization’s standards/code of conduct. The employee shall work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; and the incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. This position has variable hours. Must have open availability including nights.
