Job Description

As a Machinist you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manufacturing machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Responsible for loading parts, proving out CNC programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Selecting the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of manufacturing machinery work.
  • Monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Machining parts to specifications using (manual) machine tools such as Lathes, Bridgeport mills, EDM machines, and/or Grinders (ID/OD/Surface).
  • Responsible for quality parts produced on all machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventive maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Detecting equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine within capabilities controls or control media as required ensuring quality of production.
  • Qualifications:
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a Machinist *
  • High School Diploma or GED_ _
  • Must be able to do own setups in both manual and/or CNC machines_ _
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints_ _
  • Knowledge of feeds and speeds for metalworking._ _
  • Excellent math skills are a must._ _
  • Must know tooling and fixture and have experience in holding tolerances_ _
  • Write complete programs to print specifications from scratch for both G&M code and Conversational (Mazatrol)._ _
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance_ _
  • Knowledge of gauges, micrometers and calipers_ _
  • Must know design techniques, tools and principals involved in production planning, blueprints, drawings and models._ _
  • Must be able to identify causes of operating errors and deciding what to do through troubleshooting._*
  • Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
