Job Description

The Mobility Specialist/Installation Technician is responsible for evaluating, installing, testing, and servicing mobility products and equipment in client's home or commercial premises. The Specialist performs associated duties in the field and shop. The Specialist may also assist with accessible home remodeling projects, deliver supplies, and maintain pertinent records as required.

Essential job functions

• Installs: stair lifts, vertical platform lifts, patient lifts, auto lifts, wheelchair ramps, grab bars and home safety accessories, and other mobility products required by client or job order.

• Contacts clients by phone and in person to understand their needs and provide technical service support

• Thoroughly trains clients in the safe and proper use of installed equipment

• Prepares equipment and pre-installation fabrication as per the job order and as directed

• Safely loads and unloads equipment in an orderly and secure manner as directed

• Transports company equipment and tools in company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, adhering to all traffic laws

• Follows company safety policies/practices and observes OSHA and fire regulations to safeguard against injury and damage to property

• Promptly reports any defective material, incorrect installation, or damage to Supervisor •

Utilizes operating system to review and record client notes, upload pictures, and perform status updates

• Safeguards against loss of equipment, materials, and tools on a job site or office location

• Keeps client’s premise orderly and clean. After installation, picks up all debris from installation, securely loads company vehicle, and returns all unused materials

• Performs other duties as required


Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude

• Must have valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Must have reliable transportation; mileage reimbursement will be provided if vehicle is required for installation or service calls

• Must have ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; work effectively with a wide range of people including customers, referral sources, co-workers, and management

• Must have the willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, extended workweek, including some evenings and weekends as scheduled

• Must wear protective equipment; must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards


Preferred skills

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications, (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

• Understanding of general electronics and utilize instruments such as multi meter

• A “likeable expert” who delivers a good service experience for customers
