Manufacturing and Machining Manager 2
Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems sector is seeking a Weld & Fabrication Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Sunnyvale, California. Northrop Grumman Marines Systems specializes in the development of; manufacturing, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, and propulsion power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The candidate selected will assume the responsibility of supervising Fabrication and Weld, and Heat Treat areas within the Marine Manufacturing Department. This is a three shift facility and the candidate selected may be required to work any shift.
This position will supervise approximately 13-15 hourly employees to meet contract delivery requirements. This responsibility entails the following: Supervise shop personnel to ensure compliance with shop instructions, i.e. drawings, programs, tooling, manufacturing methods and QA documents with emphasis on weld procedures and processes. The fundamental understanding of lean principals are required to lead, guide, and direct the efforts of the team with the highest regard to safety and budget goals. Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Procedures and Shop Paper Handbook. Instill strong manufacturing practices in housekeeping set forth by Environmental Health and Safety. Functional management responsibilities will include direct employee management, annual EPAS reviews, engagement activities, and capital and equipment modernization efforts. Additionally, apply the Union and Company agreement to ensure compliance with the Company Policies and Procedures.
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
BS of technical or business management degree plus five years related experience in fabrication and assembly with an emphasis in welding processes; or, minimum of AA of technical or business management degree plus ten years related experience in fabrication and assembly with an emphasis in welding processes. Consideration will be given with internal candidates who are currently enrolled in an accredited AA technical or business degree program and expected to complete within the next calendar year.
Significant supervisory experience with strong coaching / leadership skills
Strong knowledge in Welding & NDT method and processes.
Resolve complex problems requiring technical and management solutions with Operations support team
Must have experience with complete Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work first/day shift or second/swing shift.
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a clearance.
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Related experience in machining, assembly and machine maintenance
- Current, active security clearance preferred.
