Responsibilities and Duties
This is a key role, reporting directly to the President. Managerial duties include sourcing opportunities and responsibility for the estimating process and project management from start to completion.
Estimating: Analyze and compile estimate data that impact labor costs, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors to ensure a timely estimate. Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions to determine final project estimate. Analyzes risk versus profitability of each estimate. Complete take-off’s to confirm quantities and ensure accuracy of drawings.
Project Management: Evaluates project documents to plan procedures, starting and completion times, and staffing requirements for each phase of construction. Orders procurement of tools, equipment, and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
Leadership: Directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays. Manages supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
Quality and Safety: Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules. Dedicated to maintaining a zero-accident culture by adhering to site safety protocols and OSHA safety standards
Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
Experience must include at least three years of estimating, a track record of managing safe work crews, and complete understanding of construction/excavating best practices.
Ability to make good decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment. Sought out by others for advice and solutions, lead by example.
