The DRM Master Black Belt – Sr. Program Manager supporting DRM (Design, Reliability, Manufacturability) is the industry equivalent of Lean Product Development or DFSS expert practitioner and is responsible for advancing the art of product development and product design across all business units at Medtronic. The role will require innovation, influence and leadership through collaboration with several levels of the organization. Our goal is to ensure that our New Product Introduction teams optimize product reliability, manufacturing costs, and time to market as we bring life saving technologies to the world with unsurpassed quality and reliability. The position is based in Northridge, CA .
In this exciting role you will develop organizational competency to enable the use of best in class engineering in product and process development and New Product Introduction. You will assure the right product design, starting with Voice of Customer, design input, Voice of Operations through design freeze, transfer and product launch. The individual will also support Advanced Manufacturing Engineering leaders and professionals through coaching to understand when, where and why DRM projects are beneficial. The role will also include participation in process improvement projects for the functional areas participating in product development.
A Day in the Life
Coaching teams of multiple projects to successful completion

Drive and develop standardization of Process Development
You will facilitate, train, coach others on DRM methodologies
Assess potential projects for technical difficulty and business impact and determine scope for each project
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing DRM projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
Manages the development and implementation process of a company's manufacturing and test proceses involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products.
Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
Monitor DRM projects from initiation through delivery.
Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Bachelors degree required
7+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of program/project leadership experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience with hands on manufacturing process knowledge with 5+ years of program/project leadership experience.

Concept Engineering and Innovation (Technology Roadmaps, TRIZ, convergent engineering, set-based concurrent engineering)
Experience in Process Development
Advanced technical or marketing degree (M.S. or MBA)
Agile, Lean Product Development or Toyota Product Development experience
Medtronic Lean Sigma knowledge and application (BB, or MBB)
Medical device or healthcare background
Medtronic business unit experience
Strong working knowledge of Minitab version 14 or higher
Demonstrated competency in decision making techniques
Reliability Engineering for New Products
FDA Design Control Experience
