Johnson, Chief, Planning, Development and Construction Days Off Saturday and Sunday Who May Apply All current BART employees and qualified individuals who are not yet BART employees. Current Assignment The District has a need to fill Project Manager positions for Engineering Projects in support of Planning, Development & Construction (and other Department) projects. The positions involve direct interaction with BART executive managers and the BART Board of Directors on a complex set of engineering projects and related initiatives. These projects range from the following example projects: • Transit Operations Facility and Lake Merritt Plaza • Station LED lighting upgrades • Electric Vehicles charging stations (for non-revenue vehicles) • Solar panel installation • Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) (in conjunction with private sector developers) • Station modernization • Station access (including bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements) Essential Job Functions • Plan, organize, direct and control assigned Capital Projects from concept through design, construction, and closeout (completion) of the program/project. • Analyze/solve complex engineering problems/issues to ensure compliance with regulatory and performance standards and specifications. • Prepare technical reports and other documentation, designs, drawings, specifications: • Track replacement / modification • Track layout – horizontal and vertical profile • Traction power • Train control technology • Station horizontal and vertical circulation elements • Station hardening elements • Station modernization • Upgrading maintenance facilities • Operation facility offices and systems integration • Complete streets design (including bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements) • Develop and monitor cost and quantity estimates for necessary labor, materials and equipment • Prepare and monitor project budgets, including support for obtaining funding; • Ability to conduct presentations to the Director and Executive Team to inform them of the project progress. • Ensure timely inspections, acceptance and approval for occupancy and closeout (completion) of projects by working with the designers, architects, contractors, construction managers, inspectors, and regulating authorities to resolve punch list items and other final activities. • Integration of engineering disciplines (i.e. architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communication and train control systems) necessary to successfully complete construction and commissioning documents for bid. • Effectively communicate with private sector development partners and local jurisdictions. Minimum Qualifications Education: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Five (5) years of (full-time equivalent) verifiable project management and administration experience which must have included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Other Requirements: Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient physical mobility to inspect construction in progress or review other projects. Substitution: Additional professional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. A college degree is preferred.
