POSITION DESCRIPTION The substitute teacher works in the classroom to implement education and training programs. The substitute teacher directs, assists and encourages the completion of all teacher initiated activities in a variety of educational settings, including:
Alternative Education Programs: Substitute Teachers working in the Alternative Education programs will assist in maintaining a safe classroom environment and provide academic training and supervision of "at-risk” youth through the following programs: Community Schools, providing academic, social skills and mental health development to students from grades 7-12 who have been expelled or referred by their local school districts or Probation; Juvenile Court Schools, bringing academic, vocational and computerized instruction, along with improvement of self-esteem and social skills, to Juvenile Hall to serve students who are wards of the court.
